Very versatile scanner and very easy to set up, The TaoTronics Barcode Scanner is the truly “plug n play” as straight out of the box I was up and scanning my inventory to excel online using a w7 machine. There is no programs or app needed for this scanner which I liked as I have never used a scanner of this type before and all I did was plug scanner into pc’s USB port and windows installed the necessary driver (1) and i was up and running. Scanner is made from a very hard plastic and forms very well to your hand and USB cord is plenty long enough for all your scanning. I would like to see a dedicated on/off button but you can turn off the scanning operation with a simple 6 second hold of the trigger so that is a very minor issue for me. The scanner basically acts the same way a keyboard would sending signals the same way a keyboard would send them as input so I was also able to use the scanner a search tool using google search so that was a very nice feature I also used a lot. Overall this is a high dollar scanner for a very low price and im sure it will fulfill all your scanning needs and you don’t need to be a well schooled tech person to use this unit. I had a few questions so i contacted customer service at TaoTronics and they were very courteous and well versed in answering my questions which was very refreshing. The barcode scanner supports Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems as well as programs such as Quickbook, Word, Excel, and Novell. The scanner supports a wide range of barcode types including: UPC/EAN, UPC/EAN with Supplemental, UCC/EAN 128, Code 39, Code 39 Full ASCII, Trioptic Code 39, Code 128, Code 128 Full ASCII, Codabar, Interleaved 2 of 5, Discrete 2 of 5, Code 93, MSI, Code 11, RSS variants, Chinese 2 of 5. The barcode reader has over 180 configuration options, allowing you to add prefix and suffix codes, or to delete starting/ending characters. To purchase this product for $35.99 visit AMAZON.
